Jasper Talk

Just wanted to document some of the funny things Jasper says at almost 3 years old!

1. When I'm 13, I want to drive a police car and pull people over.
2. Pajammies = pajamas
3. I've never done that in a long time or I've never had that before (when he clearly has)
4. A lot of juice, no water (he's caught on to the fact that we put water in his juice!)
5. I'm am = I am
6. Jasper do you want 5 twizzlers? No, I want "free" (three). He is pretty stuck on what he wants, even when we offer more - I'm sure that will change soon.
7. Gramps is my best good buddy (referring to Grandpa Paul)
8. After waking up in the morning, he'll say "I missed you when I was sleeping"
9. We may have scarred him on this one - but for a while he was waking up around 5 a.m. for no real reason and coming to bed with us. We told him repeatedly that he cannot come in bed with us until it's light out. WELL, now, he'll wake up and if it's not light out, he'll go back to bed. And when he wakes up and it is light out, he'll pull up the blinds and say "it's light out now" - I feel bad, but it seemed to work!
10. There seem to be monsters everywhere, especially when we're driving in the car, but they are "dood (good) monsters"
11. He wants to read his "Torduroy" book (Corduroy)
12. That make me happy or that make me sad.
...I'm sure I can't think of all of them now, but I'll post more again!

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Jasper felt like making me a birthday cake tonight out of play-doh. Granted my birthday is more than a month away, but I'll have cake any day! It was quite the cake with many "candles" (all the play-doh pieces are the candles). He made it complete by singing 'happy birthday' to me! Thanks, buddy!

Cupcake Time

We made some cupcakes the other night just for fun! We gave two to one of my hospice volunteers at work for her birthday, and sent a plate for Jman's friends at Issa's. Here are just a couple photos of Jman FINALLY getting to eat his cupcake after all that work of making them. Oh, and I had to get a picture of the sprinkles. He loves sprinkles and can't quite get the concept of being 'gentle' with the sprinkles. And he also enjoyed putting them on just one side of the cupcake rather than cover the top. He's such a good baker! Oh, and we meant to make the frosting red, but accidentally put orange, so we have valentine cupcakes with orange frosting and red sprinkles - they were still good!

Cuddle Time!

Daddy and Jman getting some cuddle time before bed one night. Jasper's got his "tractor" pajammies on! (His friend, Quinn, says pajammies, so now that is what we call them. It's kind of rubbed off on all of us!)

Breakfast with Santa

Pleasant Hill hosted its annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 4. Sydney and Melissa spent Friday night with us after Melissa's office party, and we hit Doanes Park Youth Center for breakfast first thing Saturday morning.

Unlike last year, Jasper was thrilled to see Santa and Mrs. Claus - no tears! - and wasn't shy when he and Syd spotted the 8-foot-tall Frosty the Snowman. (J did all he could last year to avoid Frosty.)

Breakfast was pancakes and sausage with milk and orange juice.

Dessert was a candy cane given by none other than the jolly one and his wife, otherwise known as Gene and Martha Miller. (These folks have played the Claus couple for decades and, while they hint at retirement just about every year, they keep coming back.)

Syd and Jasper also paid a visit to the face painters. Syd's a veteran with face paint but this was Jasper's first foray into the world of makeup and he was transformed into Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. Syd, I think, was a snow princess of some sort.

Both looked very cute and didn't mind showing off their painted mugs.

We stopped by the balloon dude - he made them reindeer heads - on our way out. And, of course, we stopped for a quick photo outside on the rocks like we did last year, too.

Fun times!

The bad dream

Just a quick post before I forget - no photos - about what I think is Jasper's first bad dream.

He woke up last night around 2 and walked into our room talking about a 'bad cat' on his bed. He wasn't totally awake so I picked him up and asked him if he'd like to go back to his room and go to bed.

He said yes, but on the way back he told me the Bad Cat was sitting on his bed. He pointed right to the spot on his pillow where Bad Cat was sitting and was thrilled when he didn't see him in his room.

He went potty - he's nearly potty trained now! - and went back to bed, but not before he told me about Bad Cat getting his head, and that Bad Cat looked like his sitter's cat Mariah.

"It looked like Mariah at night," he told me before asking me if I'd take care of him. (I said of course!)

He was a little scared but was a trooper about going back to bed. He and I talked about it just being a dream and, after remembering that Mariah is a good, friendly cat he fell back asleep with a smile on his face.

It was funny, sad and sweet all at the same time.

He watched bits and pieces of the latest Shrek movie recently and it's got a bunch of characters in there that might've led to the dream. We'll probably never know.

Happy Birthday Tim, Grandpa, Jody, and Payton!

We celebrated December birthdays at Warrior Lanes with some bowling and pizza! And I only beat Jasper by about 20 points - hmmm...I'm definitely not a bowler. Although, he did have the bumpers up and I didn't :) Ha! Ha! Oh, and he's posing with his "kid ramp" that he set the ball on and helped to give him a boost of speed to make it down to the pins.

Happy Birthday, Everyone!

Snowtime Fun

The week after Christmas, Jasper's daycare was on vacation, so we had lots of time to spend with each other and I loved EVERY minute of it - let's just say I am not ready to go back to work tomorrow after so much mommy and Jman time! On wednesday, it was about 40 degrees, sunny, and believe it or not - snowy. Perfect warm weather to play in the snow. So, we bundled up and headed on out. We shoveled, threw snow for Coz, and attempted to make a Frosty the Snowman but the snow wasn't the best for that. I'm sure we will get some more, so we'll have to wait to build a Frosty.

Final Christmas Celebration

On Sunday, December 27, we headed over to Dennis and Tess' house in Dallas Center for our final Christmas with the Diddy side. We had a great time with family and seeing cousins that we don't see that often (picture shown is all of Doris Diddy's great-grandchildren) For this side of the family, the adults exchange homemade gifts. Adam made our gifts this year - a picture frame and shelf made out of old barn wood. Adam got some aprons that his mom sewed and I got a shelf made from an antique chair. It was SO nice to see everyone, but by the time the night was over, we were pretty ready to end our celebrations and soak in all that this season blessed us with.

As we wrap up Christmas 2010, I just wanted to say THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS! We couldn't ask for a better family to spend it with - we are so fortunate!

Jasper the Tool Man Wilson

Jasper helped Daddy put together his new tool bench. I have a feeling those boys will be fixing alot of things around the house with his new tools! (Although I do have to say that Jasper does still use his tools to "cut" mommy's hair - for some reason, a hammer makes a great pair or scissors in his mind).

Head-Bandz

This is another post from Christmas at the Wilsons. Syd got a new game called Head-Bandz, where you wear a card attached to a head-band and other people give you clues to help you figure out what your card is. It was pretty fun - I think the adults got a kick out of it maybe more than the kids, though!

Mallory & Jacob's Christmas - Family/Random Photos

Here are some pictures we took of the cousins and great-grandkids with Grandpa Trissel as well as some other random shots - Mal and Jacob, and a surprise photo of my mom!

Second Stop on Christmas - Mallory & Jacob's

After we enjoyed some fun time with Grams, Gramps, and the Wilders we headed over to the Trissel side. This year we celebrated at Mallory and Jacobs. And to add a surprise this year, Mallory and Jacob got engaged Christmas Eve! So happy for those two! They are looking to get married in the Spring of 2012. We opened gifts, ate lots of yummy food, and the men and kids mostly hung out downstairs playing Rock Band all night - literally all night. I heard Adam's voice singing more than I actually saw him, I think :) And us gals played Loaded Questions and just talked, like we usually do when we get together. We missed Matt Parrino - who is currently serving our country in Afghanistan and, of course, our Grandma Bev - who we continue to miss so much as the days go on!

We were able to snap some great family photos with the cousins and Grandpa Trissel and then the great-grandkids. Also, we got a good family shot of us, and have added an addition to our family - Perri Smith :) She snuck in on our photo, but we did not mind one bit! Her and Jasper had quite the time following each other around and getting into mischief that night (including a picture of them below enjoying putting chapstick on almost everything other than what it was intended for). And the picture of Pryce on the floor - well, that is Jasper and Dom tackling her!

Christmas Celebration #2

After we had a fun family Christmas morning, we got ready for the rest of the day. First stop - Grams and Gramps Wilson! Kyren rode out with us to meet up with Grams, Gramps and the Wilders! Santa also made a visit to their house - bringing Syd and Jman matching big wheels, a big-boy tool bench, movies, a baby doll, race track and much more! We enjoyed a wonderful lunch of prime rib (soo good!) potatoes, corn, and snacks throughout the day. Syd and Jman played with their toys while us adults played with the Wii! Another special gift that we gave to Grams and Gramps was a grandparent's book. Melissa found them online and they have questions for Paul and Debbie to fill out so Jman and Syd can look back on them one day and know a little more about their grandparents.

Hooray for Christmas Morning

Well, Jasper could hardly contain his excitement for Christmas! He ended up waking up about 4 a.m. to go potty and then luckily, we convinced him to go back to sleep until we all woke up about 7:30 or so to open gifts. Jasper was a ball full of energy while me and daddy got the camera and video camera ready to record his excitement of seeing his gifts! I literally had to hold him back until we were ready - it was pretty fun to watch! I think his favorite gifts were his red vacuum and combine - which he had asked Santa for and Santa delivered! (Actually, he had asked for a tractor but Santa thought he'd like a combine instead), but he did say "It's not a tractor.." so Santa will have to remember to be more exact next year :)

He got big-boy underwear in his stocking along with some new race car (CARS - the movie) cups and a book full of Lifesavers, which he has been using as his potty-time rewards so the M&M's can have a break. Mommy and Daddy gave him a basketball hoop, MEMORY game, and a Leapfrog alphabet game. Some of his favorites were play-doh and a book of 12 CARS "mini-books" that I am not kidding you, he has already memorized, and knows them by title now.

Santa also brought mommy and daddy stockings and we had a great family Christmas morning! AND Cozmo got a new chew bone and rubber ring.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

The night before Christmas, Jasper got cuddled up in his new SpongeBob jammies from Grandma Vicki. We got a plate ready of cookies for Santa and carrots for his reindeer. Oh, and of course a cup of milk to go with the cookies. Then we all enjoyed 'Twas the Night Before Christmas which Daddy read to us before we tucked Jman into bed. We also read two of his other favorite Christmas stories - Baby Elf's Christmas (Grandma Debbie got it for him his very first Christmas) and The Christmas Story where Jasper likes to read, "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!"

He was so excited for Santa and was saying, "we need to go to bed so Santa can come." He usually goes to bed really good each night, but tonight, he did his bedtime routine a little quicker than normal.
