Day 27: Really coming together
Back from the All-Star game, I found the house completely closed up, except for the windows and doorways and part of the garage roof. It looks like a real house now, with a roof and everything!
Day 26: We've goot a roof (sort of)!
While I was away at the All-Star Game the crew put up the roof trusses. Good thing Natalie drove by and snapped a couple of pics for us!
Day 25 (July 9): Wood work
First of all, a very happy anniversary to my wife. Can't believe it's been 7 wonderful years! More work on the second-floor walls was done when we got to the site today, and some Tyvek water barrier was up. Also, more framing was done to rooms upstairs.

All-Star Game 2012
I took a break from stalking the new house and went to Kansas City on Tuesday for the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star game. What an amazing night it was, although it wouldn've been nice to see the American League score at least one run. (They lost to the N.L., 8-0.)
I'll post more soon, including photos and details, but wanted to get these two pics up from the Kansas City Star, which shows just how good my seats with Nate Westre were, once we 'upgraded' after the third inning. (In both photos, look directly above the catcher until you see Westre in a red shirt and me in a gray Hawkeyes shirt.)
Absolutely amazing.

Day 22: Second floor walls, etc.
The walls of the entire first floor were covered with plywood when we got to the site today, and we were pleasantly surprised to see the crew in action on a Saturday. They had finished the backside wall on the second floor and were putting up the frontside wall while we watched.
A little more detail: The first photo you see is looking in from the back of the house, toward the kitchen; A few pics later Natalie is shown pointing to where the stairs will be installed; then, a few after that, she's posing by one of our wonderful, new garage walls.
of the second floor and were working on the front walls as we watched.
Day 22: Progress
As we stood there checking things out today, we noticed the framing crew starting to put up the front wall of our second floor. The photo on the left is before and the right is after.
Fun to be there to see progress!

Day 21: Going up!
Work began yesterday on the second floor, and this morning they had the floor joists and most of the plywood down, plus one roof truss up on the garage. In the afternoon they had added quite a bit of plywood to the first floor walls
.
