J's new hangout spot

I walked into the bedroom Sunday to find Nat hanging up clothes and J in his new hangout spot - the laundry basket.

He was content sitting in there with nothing more than his 'Jasper' water bottle that our friend Erin Gibson made him, but I had to spruce it up a bit with his blanket and a pillow.

Note the sleepy eyes. It was mid-morning - not quite nap time - but he almost fell asleep in his basket.

Later on Sunday he got back in there to hang for a bit, but it was more play time than anything else and Nat pulled him around the house.

Fun times!

Great day to be a Hawkeye!

We wrapped up the long holiday weekend with a fun day together playing, shopping at a flea market in DSM and having an ice cream snack on the deck Sunday afternoon (the evidence is on J's face).

Nat thought it was a good idea to deck J out in Hawkeye gear and, of course, he couldn't help but ham it up after finishing his ice cream.

Great day to be a Bronco!

We were talking Sunday morning about what Jasper might be for Halloween this year. Was there ever a question?!?!

Of course he's going to be John Elway. Just to make sure he'd have something to wear, he tried on his first Elway jersey, which will fit just fine by October. (Some of you might remember the jersey from an April 2008 post when I decorated J's surroundings with Elway gear and he was none too happy. As you can see, he's grown into quite the little Bronco fan.)

Sunday lunch

Jasper loves his food and concentrates literally on the plate in front of him. For lunch today he had leftover steak and veggies off the grill, watermelon and bananas.

Big lunch for a big boy!

J on video

We were sitting at the dinner table after Jasper was done eating the other night. He was already unstrapped from his seat and doing his normal laps around the house until he started spinning ... and spinning ... and spinning.

He got dizzy and crashed a couple of times, but always laughed. You could tell he was having fun, and that this wasn't the first time he's spun for fun.

We figured he and his friends at daycare probably did it, but weren't sure. Until today, when Ms. Alissa sent Nat a video of J dancing and spinning.

Hopefully this video works!

We've got a sandbox!!!

J likes playing in grandpa Paul and grandma Debbie's sandbox so much, we just had to have one.

Jasper's best buddy (grandpa Paul) and I — with a little help from the J-man himself — built a sandbox in our backyard on Saturday. No, J wasn't in the way, he was helping gramps dig with the spade. And he wasn't falling over all the dirt clumps, he was just entertaining us.

We've already logged some quality sandbox time and I'm sure there's hours and hours and hours ahead of ourselves.

Thanks again gramps!

Red socks or legs?

We're going to play a new game tonight. It's name: 'Red Socks or Legs?'

It's a game show starring me, the idiot who put sunscreen everywhere but on my legs Sunday when I played golf with Kyl Gillespie and a handful of other guys in the annual Earlham Freedom Fest golf fundraiser.

Here's how you play: 1. look at the photo attached to this blog; 2. ask yourself the question, Is Adam wearing long, red sox or are those his legs?; 3. write me a message saying how dumb it is to get that sun burned.
